I had the fortune to see the entire series on DVD, uninterupted by commercials or the need to wait an entire week for the next episode (especially those cliff-hangers!)... This is a show that is worth while to watch in its entirety for the depth it brings to the art of good storytelling.

I recently purchased the first DVD set for Battlestar Galactica and I'm finding it a wonderful watch too...speaking of shifting shades of dark and light...Nina Munteanuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00311070435293186699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8584840770244929.post-66039716018416703192009-01-02T22:42:00.000-08:002009-01-02T22:42:00.000-08:00Nice Analysis!!! I had to use a diff computer tho, and it was still pretty slow.

I think my old chug-a-lug of a home computer just can't handle all this sci-fi stuff, lol.

Anyway, sigh of relief, now I'm gonna go catch-up on all I've missed!MYMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17679094659957098225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8584840770244929.post-34969798396201124732007-10-04T17:19:00.000-07:002007-10-04T17:19:00.000-07:00I do so agree with both of you! If you want a good irreverent and quarky version of the aeon/twin dual heros thing, check out the comic version of Aeon Flux. Someday "Strange Horizons" will put my review up (they bought it, but are taking their time putting it up). Peter Chang's animated Aeon Flux aired at midnight on MTV for its...eh...adult content, not to mention somewhat existentialist themes. To me, the dark/light thing works best when it's constructed around a yin/yang duality, but I'm a Taoist so I would say that. The best example of this I've seen in a similar show is Cowboy BeBop, an all time fave of mine. It is also a Hero's Journey, a device I favor, but a more mysterious one that appears to be in flight.

But I find that the hard full-step back of well-written SciFi is unquestionably the best analysis of what humans are made of.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8584840770244929.post-28043891909221776522007-10-04T11:55:00.000-07:002007-10-04T11:55:00.000-07:00A good analysis, Nina.
